My 2014 Race Schedule

I have finally finalized the plans for my 2014 race season. I have 8 events planned for this year. I’ve already registered for half of them and will register for the rest in the next couple of weeks. The majority of the events are triathlons, the rest are either charity bike rides or runs. I’ve tried to spread out the events so that I don’t have any really big events back to back and so that I have some downtime during the summer.

Most of the events this summer are one I’ve previously participated in. One of my favourites is the CN Cycle for CHEO, one I’ve participated in a couple of times. This charity ride happens early in the season and is a great first event to the season. I always take part in the 70km ride, which is a scenic ride through Ottawa. They also have short bike rides and walks, as a way of encouraging people of all levels to participate. As an added bonus, you’re supporting the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.  I am almost super excited for Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant. I participated in this race for the first time last year and it was my first half iron distance race ever. This event is the best organized race I’ve ever participated in and Mont-Tremblant is an amazing location for the race. What should make this year extra interesting is the fact that Mont-Tremblant will be playing host to the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in September. There should be some more pros in the field this year trying to get a sneak peak of the course.

TriathlonI am really excited to try out the Peterborough triathlon for the first time this year. I am going to be racing in the sprint distance race this year but if things go well this year, I might move up to the half iron distance next year. Ironman 70.3 Muskoka will be my second half ironman this year and it will be my first attempt at this race. I’ve been told that Muskoka is one of the nicest places to race in the country and I am looking forward to seeing what the course has to offer.

You can see my entire schedule below, is there any other race I should add to my schedule? Any race would need to be near Ottawa and not another half ironman. What race or event are you looking forward to this year?
